Travelling in Situ
2020 - 2021
In 2020 when the global pandemic meant we were all forced to stay put, the concept of "Travelling In Situ" (or travelling without going anywhere) was born. The works from this exhibition are very much about exploring what we can find in our own backyards (literally my own and my mother's) and about the simple pleasure of finding beauty, love and happiness close to home. Many of the titles for these works come from Australian poets, especially those paintings of Australian native flowers. Other works show flowers growing in the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, a place I travelled to often in 2020, or other flowers found on my limited travels.
